Design Ideas for your Open Plan Eco Home.
With an open plan home there is no longer separation with walls between the main rooms in the house. The kitchen, living and dining room are all one space. With lots different décor and furniture pieces it can make the layout look messy. It is important to try some room separation techniques that will define spaces within your home. The placement of furniture is essential for breaking up the open space; it needs to be positioned in a way that reserves the cosy feel of a home. Placing the furniture against the walls and around the edges will create a wide space that feels empty and uninviting.
It is important that in an open plan house all the blinds and curtains are kept the same. A jumble of patterns and textures can be seen from all angles and can look untidy. You should pick a natural shade when choosing the window coverings; they need to go with all of the colours that you use to decorate your eco home. Dividing these spaces up using furniture and shelving units can add a much needed character, although open concept living is a modern phenomenon and contemporary layout, the house can still reflect personality. To make a house a home it needs to be lived in and loved, you need to be truly happy with the design and colours that you have chosen. One of the best features of an eco house with open plan living is that the open space is like a blank canvas for you to design, invent and create your dream home.
When it comes to the colours in your home you need to consider the large glass windows and the huge open spaces. No shade can be too dark as there is plenty of natural light and it could never feel enclosed. However the surface of the walls can just be too much to paint in a dark shade, it may become overwhelming. Using light, pastel shades or natural creams and whites make the house bright, clean and fresh this will create a home where coloured furniture can be added to separate rooms and add individuality. Colour pallets can be used for each area, they offer different shades that add tone and warmth to the blank canvas, for example, a seascape palette in greens and blues will introduce depth and layers to the areas of your home. These aesthetics really will lighten up your living space and add brightness and vibrancy to the areas that need it most.
